Mousetrap-Maxim
The child walks around the trap three times and speaks:
Tiny guests, tiny house.
Dear little mousy, or mouse,
Come around nimble and spry
Tonight by moonlight!
But close the door behind you with care,
Do you hear?
And watch out for that tail of yours!
After supper we will sing
After supper we will leap
And do a little dance:
Witt witt!
And most likely my old cat will dance too.

Das Kind geht dreimal um die Falle und spricht:
Kleine Gäste, kleines Haus.
Liebe Maeusin, oder Maus,
Stell dich nur kecklich ein
Heut nacht bei Mondenschein!
Mach aber die Tür fein hinter dir zu,
Hörst du?
Dabei hüte dein Schwaenzchen!
Nach Tische singen wir
Nach Tische springen wir
Und machen ein Taenzchen:
Witt witt!
